In order to access our research, you have to install a free "plugin" to the Acrobat PDF viewer software you already have installed on your computer. A "plugin" is a software module that 'plugs in' an application in order to give it specific additional functionality. You can think of it a little like an option on an automobile. The car runs just fine without a 5-disk CD changer. Adding the CD changer doesn't change what the car does. All adding the CD changer does is 'add functionality' to the automobile.
The company that makes this plugin is called FileOpen. The free plugin is downloaded from their web site
Installing the plugin for most people will be straight forward. To begin, click on whichever link below applies to you:
I have an Apple computer.
I have a PC that runs Windows.
I don't use an Apple or a Windows-based computer.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
It is very important you do not allow Adobe to update your Acrobate Reader beyond version 9.x for Windows operating systems and version 8.x for Apple operating systems. We strongly recommend you go into your Acrobat settings and disable automatic updates, changing the settings to only notifying you when updates are available. Only install security updates to your existing version and
DO NOT download any new version beyond 9.x for Windows and 8.x for Apple. If you downloaded newer versions,
click here to go to the Adobe site. Apple users should choose the "10.4.11-10.5.7" operating system matching their processor.
